We offer a variety of fishing, everything from browntrout fishing in river Alsterån for the out-and-out flyfisher to family friendly spin- and anglefishing in nearby lakes from boat or from shore.
Strömfiske Alsterån offers a varied fishing along a 15km long stretch with alternating streams and calmer parts.
Mainly the brown trout fishing attracts there, but also a really nice pike fishing, where big pike can be found in the calmer parts.
For the family, we can warmly recommend renting a boat in Våraskruvsjön or Hjärtasjön. Spin and angling from a boat gives even the beginner and the children close to catch guarantee.
Våraskruvsjön is beautifully situated in Våraskruv nature reserve and our boat is the only one in the lake. In addition to fishing, you can take a trip along the marked trails or perhaps around the entire lake.
Hjärtasjön is located outside Hökhult and with a few boats it is easy to find a place for yourself. Our boat is the largest and most stable in the lake and provides plenty of space for the family or the fishing poles and a safe trip even if there is some wind on the large lake. At the mooring there is a nicely landscaped barbecue area and bathing area with jetty.
Exciting pike fishing in Alsterån
On selected stretches along the river (in selected calm flows and marshy meadows), we offer an exciting fishing for the Alsterån's very strong and combative stream water pike. Especially if the water is too low and hot for a rewarding trout fishing at the end of the summer, pike fishing is a fun alternative for those who want to go out and wet the line in the river.

Strömfiske Alsterån
Through Småland's green and deep forests, the Alsterån river flows, a fishing idyll right in the heart of Småland's Glasriket.
15 km of the river is part of Strömfiske Alsterån, which is managed by us at Vidinge Gård, where a large part of the stretch flows through undeveloped wilderness. Here is an original strain of browntrout that is enhanced by annual releases of selected high-quality spawning fish that have gone into naturally flowing water.
The river stretch alternates between hard-flowing stretches, sometimes in hard-to-reach places through wild nature, to calm-flowing areas with marsh meadows and ponds, and in a couple of places along the calmer areas there are jetties.
The river is divided into fishing zones for both qualified fly fishing but also offers, naturally, in a couple of zones, more easily accessible fishing for everyone. Fishing offers opportunities for pure fly fishermen as well as spin fishermen. Fishing in the river is a natural fishing in the wild and can always be considered challenging. You often have to look for the fish but for the patient it is a wonderful experience.
At certain events and during the weekends in mid-May, the number of places by the river can be limited (we never want it to feel crowded by the river). Accommodation at Vidinge Gård is always a guaranteed fishing license.
All fishing for brown trout takes place with a barbless single hook (flies and spinners are available at Vidinge Gård).
Trout fishing is 100% C&R (trout are released quickly and carefully).
The river's natural stock of trout benefits in various ways through nature conservation and new playgrounds. We also release fine trout, which have gone into flowing water, a few times a year.
In the river there are also pike, perch, roach and crayfish. (Crayfish fishing is not included in the fishing license)
The fishing season runs from the beginning of April to the end of September.
Picked up at Vidinge Gård before fishing. Especially for first-time visitors, a visit is highly recommended.
At Vidinge Gård there are e.g. lunch and picnic packages to buy. Equipment or a hammock for the fishing break is available for rent and a small shop with the most important fishing stuff.
Beginners' courses and guided tours along the route as agreed.
In several places along the route there are outdoor toilets, barbecue areas and shelters. When staying overnight in or near a shelter, Vidinge Gård must be informed in advance to let us know if it is "occupied" when someone asks.

Våraskruvsjön - Lake Våraskruv
Våraskruv nature reserve offers a fantastic cultural environment in beautiful nature.
Old grazed meadows with flower splendor where old gnarled oaks stand in the pastures that slope down to the idyllic Våraskruvsjön. Next to the lake there are benches and tables for a picnic in the green.
In the pastures and around the lake there are nice marked hiking trails when you want to take a break from fishing or if you want to split up and take turns in the boat.
In the lake there is only one boat, no piers or cottages with beach plot so you will have the whole lake to yourself.
Since there has been no net fishing in years, there is plenty of both perch and pike. There are guaranteed to be some really sizable specimens of both varieties in the lake.
Hjärtasjön - Heart Lake
Hjärtasjön is a large and clear lake adjacent to Skäraskog nature reserve outside Hökhult.
At the mooring there is a popular nice little bay with barbecue station for the public, perfect for those who may want to take a break from fishing.
You can also take the boat and dock further away in the lake to get your own sun cliff and fish from land.
Those who have the time and desire can take the opportunity to visit the adjacent nature reserve.
Our rowing boat is solid built and stable to withstand even the marine environment so it is well adapted even if it would be a little more breeze on the big lake. There is plenty of perch and pike in the lake.

For both spin and fly fishermen, there is an exciting opportunity to sneak up close and get in touch with Sweden's top predator, which offers wonderful fights, often with air jumps.
Pike also occur in impressive sizes in the river. Pike may be caught and the pike that has gone in flowing water is of delicious food quality.
At Vidinge Gård we inform about where and which pike are desirable in the river and where we would like the pike to be picked up, of course all pike must be released. If you do not want to take the pike home, we are happy to take care of it on the lodge.
For directed pike fishing, other prices and rules regarding equipment apply. If you have redeemed a normal fishing license for Strömfiske Alsterån you can always re-saddle to dedicate part of the stay / day to directed pike fishing. It always applies that the directed pike fishing only takes place in designated places and as agreed with the staff at Vidinge Gård.
In the event of mistakenly hooked trout, the trout must, without exception, be released as quickly and as gently as possible.
